ABOUT VORTEX?

Established and opened in December 2022, Vortex Shisha is a unique shisha lounge and bar operating within the trendy Upper Kloof Street precinct of Gardens, Cape Town.

Vortex Shisha comes to you from the original creators of the now defunct Shisha Hut brand which closed following an ownership change. The original creators wanted to maintain a ‘go to’ location for Cape Town’s best place to Eat, Drink and Shisha and hence, Vortex was developed and brought to life! You will see many familiar faces from our old ‘family’ here both within the Vortex team and our amazing customers – it’s just like we moved homes!

Located in a heritage listed building with a long history of the early Kloof Street days – including being a long-standing Greek Restaurant and Café and more recently Robin Hood, this impressive location now is the home to Vortex, continuing the journey of the building’s history. The building has 4 distinct zones for your comfort and enjoyment:

• A Kloof Street facing front deck with bar seats and a bench custom designed to hold your shisha pipe safely.
• The main bar area with a mix of bar seating, seats for 2, 4, 6 and more where you can enjoy a cool drink and a meal from our amazing menu.
• The ‘Red Room’ which can be segregated from the main bar area via a sound reducing door with extraction for shisha.
• The back ‘Beer Garden’ area with a big screen tv, seating and benches and undercover making it an all year round location.

All areas have TV’s with DSTV access and our sound system to enjoy the atmosphere from anywhere you choose to be, with all major sports being played live. There is an area to suit your group size and your mood based on your visit with us.

We only serve high quality Al Fakhar shisha flavours, and pride ourselves in the management and preparation of your shisha each time. All pipes are cleaned and maintained after use, and hygienically served to you thinking only of your experience and safety. We maintain our original founding values and purpose for existing, where our creator, the crazy Australian was in a frustrating search to find a regular shisha hangout which had great quality shisha, unlimited and free coal replacements, free Wi-Fi and alcohol all within a great venue and with service to match – this didn’t exist so it was created out of pure self-indulgence then shared with Cape Town’s people and tourists and visitors from far and wide. This foundation purpose of our existence continues and shall always. We don’t see why you should pay R500+ for a substandard shisha or R50 for additional coals – spend that money on your drinks instead!

The added advantage of our new location is a fully set up kitchen where we have developed an extensive food menu to cater for all your desires and hunger!
